Embracing Clean Beauty: As someone who values transparency and sustainability, the clean beauty movement has always resonated with me. The idea of using products free from harmful chemicals and synthetic additives appealed to my desire for a more holistic approach to skincare and makeup. So, I decided to embark on a journey to explore the world of clean makeup and see what it had to offer.
Discovering Clean Beauty Retailers: One of the first stops on my clean beauty journey was Sephora and Ulta, where I was pleasantly surprised to find dedicated sections for clean beauty products. As I browsed the aisles, I was amazed by the variety of clean makeup brands available, from Ilia and Kosas there were plenty of new brands dedicated to clean beauty. Although I was pleasantly surprised to see retailers like Sephora and Ulta embracing the clean beauty movement I did quickly discover the importance of researching or scanning products even if they had the “clean beauty” logo. Particularly in Sephora which uses the clean beauty logo in their own way, letting a few less than clean brands sneak in.
Empowering Choices with Apps: Welcome apps like Yuka and OnSkin. These apps quickly became indispensable tools in my beauty arsenal, providing me with valuable information about product ingredients, ratings, and recommendations. Although I am definitely not sponsored to say this, the fact you can use your phone camera, scan products live and receive a score out of 100 for that products with a breakdown of all the ingredients and whether they are clean or not was truly groundbreaking.
Yuka is free and if you wish to upgrade to premium you can for less than 10 dollars a year. OnSkin is newer and in my opinion better for products such as sunscreen. It is also free and has a premium model. These two apps were amazing at the beginning of my journey. I could walk into any store and scan any product; not just makeup, but skincare, household products, food, etc. It truly proved that I could make a total clean break from damaging, chemical filled products that do nothing positive for your skin.
The Joy of Clean Makeup: What I love most about clean makeup is not just its purity but also its efficacy. Clean makeup formulations are gentle yet effective, providing flawless results without compromising on performance. I’ve noticed a difference in the health and appearance of my skin since switching to clean makeup – it feels nourished, radiant, and free from irritation. I particularly feel that eliminating products with fragrance has truly made the biggest difference for my super sensitive, acne-prone skin.
