New Assassin’s Creed Games Coming Out

Hello everyone, it has been a while since we last posted. This Pear is walking down the aisle and there is an undeniable shortage of time. Nevertheless, some interesting news came out today in the gaming world and we just had to share them. Assassin’s Creed is coming out with new games… Now, we understand some may have a terrible aftertaste considering Vallhalla ended up in unforgettable disappointment for a ton of people. Half of this Pear played most of the games and was truly disheartened after the last installment in the popular franchise. Regardless, we thought to work through our thoughts and opinions by breaking down what the future looks like for the Assassin’s Creed world.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Coming 2023

The first game in the lineup is Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This game is expected to be released sometime in 2023. The official trailer was released on September 10th and we have to start by saying… boy do we have thoughts.

Now, this is not a gameplay trailer but rather a cinematic trailer where everything looks amazing; however, there is a lot more to focus on than just pretty cut scenes. For example, while the wiki page for the game describes the opportunity to; “Experience the story of Basim, a cunning street thief seeking answers and justice as he navigates the bustling streets of ninth-century Baghdad through a mysterious, ancient organization known as the Hidden Ones…” much has changed since the last two installments.

This game is set 20 years prior to the events in Valhalla, players will assume the role of Basim Ibn Ishaq with the gender choices, dialogue options, and relationship possibilities removed. Now, we totally understand many players voiced their opinion on the gender choice options, here is ours. We feel like the franchise has struggled to give female leads a personality that feels “realistic”. In trying to give the player “choices” they end up with washed-out dialogue, repetitive storylines, and historically inaccurate leads. Taking the choice away would save cost and also allow more time to create richer characters that feel more natural.

Now, Mirage has the opportunity to create choices that feel authentic to the character. Although we have no confirmation of this, we can hope the game will succeed in this aspect

After Valhalla had Eivor Varinsdottir’s raven Synin provide her with Eagle Vision despite being a corvid rather than an eagle, Mirage will return to the method used in Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey by having the Easter imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca) Enkidu aid Basim.

Basim will be able to explore the environment and find different ways to approach and eliminate his targets. He will also have a variety of weapons and tools, including smoke bombs and the iconic Hidden Blade.

All in all, this sounds good. The character may finally have good dialogue, a proper background, and a storyline. Moreover, the universe looks wonderful, and it’s set in a new place filled with culture and knowledge to appreciate.

So; you may wonder, what is the problem?

Well, we aren’t so much afraid as we are concerned. You see, Mirage’s conceptual title was Assassin’s Creed: Rift. It was first leaked on February, 9th 2022 and reported by Bloomberg. Originally planned to be a DLC for ValhallaRift was expanded into its own standalone game. The game won’t be a massive open-world role-playing game like previous recent entries, focusing instead more on stealth gameplay. It will be based in Baghdad with minor visits to Alamut which means we aren’t sure if there will be enough to discover to make this worth the price of a full game. We are concerned that perhaps the thin Lineup Ubisoft is experiencing resulted in a DLC becoming a full game.

We will have to wait and see what the game will actually look like once they reveal more. Nevertheless, we hope our fears are unfounded and this release gives players the lead they have been asking for.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade: Coming Soon to Mobile

The game that seems to be coming out next might be Assassin’s Creed Codename JADE. This game is said to be coming out soon to mobile. It should be very interesting to see how that game does on this new platform. The trailer provided here is actually in-game footage and it doesn’t look all that bad for mobile standards. It seems very close to the graphics from previous console titles. Granted, the gameplay could be taken from a pc version of a game with the graphics cranked up so we will have to wait and see on this one.  Vice president executive producer of Assassin’s Creed, Marc-Alexis Côté, promised that players will explore China in the year 215 BCE, and be able to not only parkour across the Great Wall of China, but also create their own assassin protagonist for the first time ever in the series. Other than this, there isn’t much information on this game as of yet. Regardless, it’s a great little teaser for fans to look forward to.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red & Codename Hexe

Finally, we have 2 other titles that are in the works. Neither one of them have anything too distinctly different for us to mention so we figured to include them just as small teaser trailers.

They are very short and don’t have any real information on them but they are great to hype up fans for new areas that will be explored. The first one is Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and the second one is Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. We feel like Red might come out first just because they show a little more than Hexe; however, they both seem far from release for now. Red shows off a more ninja-style character which seems like a very cool and different look into the assassin archetype. Hexe shows pretty much nothing other than the fact that it is in the works, but it does look like it has something to do with witches and magic (due to the witch-like pentagram and title).

We hope you enjoyed this little look into what is in the works for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. We know it is a little heavy on Mirage; however, this was what got us writing as it feels like it could be a make-or-break type of release. Will they stay the same as all their previous games or will they finally listen to players’ critiques and grow? We will have to wait and see, let us know what your thoughts are on these games and if you are an AC fan or not.
